Ojalá and migration
One of the themes Ojalá is working on, is migration. Ojalá would like to concentrate itself on the broad theme of migration of Latin Americans to the Netherlands or Europe and migration within Latin America itself.

Why is Ojalá concerned about migration? From Latin America Ojalá receives more and more signals of difficulties such as discrimination and racism that Latin migrants are facing when they travel to Europe. In the Netherlands these stories are often unheard by the media and politics. Moreover, victims are often not aware of their rights. They often do not know how to fight the unjustice that has been done to them. Ojalá would like to change that. First, by offering information on migration of Latin Americans throught his website. Second, by organising discussion and movie nights on migration in the Netherlands.
Also within the Netherlands, Ojalá is increasingly being confronted with difficulties that Latin American migrants are facing in this country. The climate in the Netherlands towards migrants is getting harsher. The life of a(n) (undocumented) migrant is getting more and more difficult. In the Netherlands, Ojalá would like to show solidarity with Latin American migrants who have been labbeled as “illegal” and “unwanted alien” by our government. Ojalá’s motto is: no person is illegal.
In addition to the activities mentioned above, Ojalá would like to speak out against the “chase” on persons without a residence permit, the criminalisation of “illegals”, the duty to identify yourself and the Dutch immigration policy that makes it almost impossible for Latino’s from specific Latin American countries to even travel to “Fortress Europe”.
Information about our actions on migration can be found at the menu “Actions”. Keep an eye on our website and mailing list as well for more news about our activities and actions with regards to migration.
